QUALIFYING EVENTS 2026
MAX YOKE WITH A TWIST
Athletes nominate their starting weight & that will be loaded before the event starts. The athlete needs to successfully cover the 10m course without drops to set a score.
There will be weights at both ends of the course for athletes to add weight to the yoke to increase their max number.
Athlete can also reduce weight if need be.
90 second time limit. unlimited attempts with in that time.
AXLE GROUND TO OVERHEAD
Athletes will start their 2min allocation with the axle bar loaded to their nominated weight.
Within the time frame, athletes can add weights (which will be available in their zone) to the bar and attempt to achieve the highest weight overhead in whatever style they choose (jerk, strict, push, snatch).
Unlimited attempts allowed. Weight can also be removed by the athlete at any point within the time frame.
MAX DEADLIFT
Classic powerlifting format. 3 attempts. Athletes nominate their starting weight and then select their next attempt within 60 seconds of that attempt.
Because we want athletes to succeed, they can reduce weight for the next attempt, if they miss one.
Deadlifts suits & straps allowed. No sumo!
HUSSAFEL SANDBAG CARRY
Athletes will nominate a weight to carry from the options available (60-160kg with 20kg jumps).
Before commencing their attempt, athletes will be allowed time (no more than 30secs) to feel the bag above and below and change their selection.
Once the athlete has started moving with a sandbag, their attempt has begun and once the bag touches the floor, their attempt is over.
There is no time limit for this event, just 10m laps for max distance.
